Tony Fan-Cheong Chan () is a Hong Kong-born mathematician and President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology since 1 September 2009. He succeeded Chu Ching-wu who retired from HKUST in August 2009. Tony Chan worked at UCLA and at the National Science Foundation. He is a co-founder of the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics, an NSF-funded institute at UCLA. He has been listed as an ISI Highly Cited Author in Mathematics by the ISI Web of Knowledge, Thomson Scientific Company.〔(ISI Highly Cited Author – Tony F. Chan )〕 He also sits on the selection committee for the Mathematics award, given under the auspices of the Shaw Prize.
